Gentle Fall - Yandere Otome Visual Novel
Gentle Fall is a free yandere otome visual novel by Isa, Isa. You play a first-year university student whose life has settled into a kind of painful sameness — study, eat, sleep, repeat, and no friends yet to break the rhythm. Everything feels excruciatingly ordinary. Everything, except for the slow, unshakeable feeling that you are being watched. Then Chester is there. Chester says he will keep you safe. The story that follows is a quiet, watercolor-painted fall.
What Gentle Fall Feels Like
The art in Gentle Fall is hand-painted in Photoshop and Krita, with a soft, slightly washed-out watercolor palette that feels like a private journal being read back to you. Backgrounds lean into muted university interiors: lecture halls, library stacks, the side window of a train at dusk. Characters sit in front of those backgrounds in a clean visual-novel style, and the face work does a lot of the horror that the prose only hints at. The build is short; the art stays with you.
This is a yandere otome visual novel built around a single, slow year. The writing leans into the quiet kinds of horror — the half-second where Chester answers a question you did not ask, the morning you realize you are looking forward to seeing him more than the lecture, the night you start to wonder whether the watching is protection. The game is short. The fall is gentle. The damage is not.
How To Play Gentle Fall
The controls are deliberately simple. There is no combat, no inventory, no stat screen. You read, click, choose, and watch Chester decide what he says next. The whole demo lives or dies on whether the writing makes you lean in — and it does.
Press Play and let the frame load. No install, no signup, no itch.io.
Click through the dialogue. Mouse, trackpad, or tap — any of them works.
When a choice prompt appears, pick the line that matches the person you want to be in Chester’s orbit. There is no “correct” answer — only the one he will remember.
Save with the in-game menu if you want to come back to a route. The browser build keeps the save in this page’s storage.
Chester, The First-Year, and the Year
Gentle Fall is a two-character game — but the first year of university is doing a lot of the work of a third.
Chester
A bespectacled figure in a brown coat who turns up at the right moment with the right question. He says he will keep you safe. The handwriting on the cover is his.
You
A quiet university student who has not made any friends yet. You study, you eat, you sleep, and somewhere in the back of your head you have started to feel watched. There are no pronoun options — the story uses she/her for you.
The Year
The first year of university is not a person. It is doing the work of one. Pay attention to which day it is, and to which day Chester starts appearing on it.
What You Choose In Gentle Fall
Every choice in Gentle Fall is a small test of how close you let Chester get. He is paying attention to how honest you are, how curious you are, and how comfortable you are letting him in. You will not see a stat block at the end of every scene — but the route the game takes you down reflects the kind of student you are being, and Chester is very, very good at remembering which line you picked when the room went quiet.
[01] Meet The Watcher
Chester shows up the way real people show up: not with an answer, but with a question that doesn’t need one.
[02] Read The Silence
Every pause in the dialogue is a sentence. The watercolor palette is doing the same work twice.
[03] Choose Your Honesty
Some answers keep Chester at a distance. Some answers let him step a little closer. The game does not warn you which is which.
[04] Pick Your Ending
Branching narrative paths lead to different endings. Replay to see what Chester would have said if you had trusted him a little more — or a little less.
[05] Watch The Watching
The feeling of being watched is the game’s first instrument. When it shifts, the scene shifts. Pay attention to when the room gets quieter.
[06] Replay For The Other You
The same scene, read as a softer or a more guarded student, lands completely differently. Try it the other way.

Tips Before You Start
Give Gentle Fall a clean browser tab if you can. Close noisy video streams, let the iframe take the screen, and read with the sound on low if your browser allows it. The game is not hard to click through, but it is easy to skim past the line that does most of the work. Pay attention to small verbs, to who answers first, to the moment Chester goes quiet for half a second too long.
If a polite line from him makes you flinch, follow that flinch. If a question feels too reasonable, remember it. The best run is usually the one where you let the game catch you being honest when you meant to be polite — and the second run is the one where the watching stops feeling like a problem.
A Fan-Built Browser Portal For Gentle Fall
This is a fan-built browser portal for Gentle Fall, made to keep the game easy to launch, easy to revisit, and easy to share. The page focuses on the browser player, readable notes, real screenshots, and practical troubleshooting. It is not trying to bury you in lore before you have started the run — Gentle Fall is better when you walk in with just enough context, and the Play button at the top is the way in.
If you enjoy yandere otome visual novels, Gentle Fall is worth playing slowly. If you like replaying choices to see what changes, the branching paths give you plenty of routes to walk into. And if all you want is a quick way to start, the player at the top of the page is the point: press play, let the watercolor settle, and see what Chester says to you first.
